Abrasive Wheels
Introduction
The Safety in Industry Act. Schedule No 30. (Abrasive Wheels) 1982 places an obligation on all Employers of places where Abrasive Wheels are used, to ensure that only Trained, Competent and Appointed personnel mount the appropriate wheels in the machines. This legislation was deemed necessary due to the serious injuries and fatalities resulting from the use of machines that were subjected to inappropriate use or incorrect mounting procedures.
Course Aim
The aim of the course is to give participants the skill and knowledge to assess the danger associated with the use of abrasive wheels and use abrasive wheels safely and effectively
Objectives
On completion of this course, participants will:
- Know the requirements for the storage of abrasive wheels
- Be able to mount abrasive wheels correctly reducing the risk of injury
- Use of an abrasive wheels safely and effectively
- Have the skill and knowledge required to successfully complete the course assessments

Personnel who are in control of or involved in the use of Abrasive Wheels
Methodology
Presentation on multimedia, discussions and case studies. Course handouts, training records, evaluation forms are also provided. The presentation includes information on the assembly and disassembled of Electric, Petrol Driven and Pneumatic Machines. A large variety of abrasive wheels are compared to ensure that the participants understand the specification codes.
Assessment
Participants are required to complete written and practical assessments on the abrasive wheels
Certification
Participants will receive certification of attendance on completion of the course
