Course Aim
To give participants the skill and knowledge required to enter confined spaces without endangering themselves or others
Objectives
On completion of this course, participants will:
- List their duties in relation to the 2001 Confined Space Regulations
- Identify a safe system for work when working in confined spaces
- Understand permit to work systems
- Test for toxic gas in confined spaces
- Know the emergency procedures in the event of a confined space incident.

- Hazards Associated with Confined Spaces entry
- Safe Systems of Work
- Permit to Work Systems – as a means of controlling risk
- Confined space entry equipment.
- Responsibilities in relation to confined space entry.
- Testing for Toxic and Flammable Gases
- Emergency Rescue Procedures.

Who should attend?
This course is intended for personnel who are in control of or involved in entering into a confined space (as defined in the 2001 Confined Space Regulations.)
Methodology
Presentation on multimedia, supplemented by discussions, case studies and practical exercises. Course handouts, training records and evaluation forms
Assessment
Participants are required to complete a written assessment on completion of the course
Certification
Participants will receive certification of attendance on completion of the course
