Emergency Response Team Training

Course Aim

To provide the Emergency Response Team (ERT) trainees with the skill and knowledge to deal emergency situations in a safe and co-ordinated manner.

 

Objectives

On completion of this course, participants will:

  • Understand the physics and chemistry of fire.
  • List the actions to be taken in the event of a fire.
  • Know emergency evacuation procedures
  • Be aware of, and be competent to use, the different types of fire fighting equipment.
  • Be familiar with search and rescue techniques
  • Be familiar with entrapped procedure
  • Be a competent in the use and checking of Breathing Apparatus
  • Be a competent member of the company Emergency Response Team.

 

Course Programme

  • Discussion of relevant statutory legislation and its requirements.
  • Causes, costs & understanding of fires.
  • Physics and chemistry of fire.
  • Understanding fire and practical fire fighting
  • Breathing apparatus theory and practical
  • Search and rescue theory and practical
  • Entrapped Procedures theory and practical
  • Fire Team communications.
  • Chemical spill response theory and practical
  • Evacuation procedures.

 

Who should attend?

Personnel who wish to play an active role on an Emergency Response Team

 

Methodology

An experienced fire officer will deliver and co-ordinate all the course activities. Course includes classroom presentation and discussions. Practical sessions using various fire fighting apparatus fighting live fires.

 

Assessment

Participants are required to complete a written assessment on completion of the course

Certification

Participants will receive certification of attendance on completion of the course
