Safety for Managers Course Programme

Course Aim

This course provides an overview for managers of their roles and responsibilities for health and safety. It is of vital importance that managers know and understand their responsibilities under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and other relevant legislation. This course aims to provide the participants with knowledge of the requirements of current legislation as it applies to their role as managers and to manage work operations safely

 

Objectives

On completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the principles and requirements of key health and safety legislation
  • Comprehend the principles of hazard identification and risk assessment
  • Identify the key elements and techniques ensuring the co-operation of all staff on health and safety
  • Understand the benefits, techniques and principles of adopting a positive safety culture
  • Recognise the benefits, techniques and principles of safety-performance monitoring
  • Understand the principles of accident investigation

Managers, supervisors or those with a similar responsibility for employees under their direct control.

 

Methodology

The course will be presented in a modular format and will include case studies, problem based learning and group activities.

 

Assessment

Participants are required to complete a written assessment on completion of the course

Participants will receive certification of attendance on completion of the course
