Pressurised Gas Cylinder Safety Training Course

Course Aim

To provide the course participants with the knowledge required for the safe storage, transport and handling of pressurized gas cylinders in the workplace.

 

Objectives

On completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the cylinder identification and colour coding.
  • List the requirements of safe storage, carriage and handling of gas cylinders.
  • Identify the hazards associated with gas cylinders.
  • Inspecting gas cylinders and associated equipment
  • Be aware of the hazards associated with oxygen enrichment and deficiency

  • Discuss relevant legislation relevant to hazardous gases.
  • Cylinder colour coding and labels
  • Cylinder valves and regulators
  • Knowing the properties of your gases
  • Safe storage and transport of cylinders.
  • Inspection and maintenance of gas equipment
  • Handling leaking cylinders in the workplace.
  • Fire safety precautions with gas cylinders.
  • Additional Hazards – when welding & cutting.
  • Personal Protective Equipment required when using gases.
  • Case studies

Personnel who work with or have responsibility for the storage, use or transport of pressurised gas cylinders

 

Methodology

Classroom presentation on multimedia, supplemented by videos, discussions throughout the course.

 

Assessment

Participants are required to complete a written assessment on completion of the course

Certification

Participants will receive certification of attendance on completion of the course
